Annual General Meeting

Zara Brooks Junior Points champion
The Club held their AGM on Saturday 28th January 2012 at the Hare public house, Long Melford. Many thanks to all those who attended the meeting.
The meeting opened with the Chairman’s report (Mrs Sue Salmon) she reported that the shows had all gone ahead as planned this year and thanks must be given to the land owners Sir Richard and Lady Hyde parker and Margaret and Charles Butcher for providing us with the grounds.
It has been decided to not hold the Hunter trial this year due to the financial cost of running the event and drop in entries over the past two years also it has become increasingly difficult to get the required amount of jump judges before the event always making it unsure if enough will turn up on the day.
The Annual June show has been moved back by a week to the last weekend in May so as not to clash with the Jubilee weekend.
The chairman also reiterated that we will not tolerate abusive behaviour and bad language at any of our events and anyone considered to be breaching this will be asked to leave the show ground.
Once again it has been a struggle to get trophies back at events so they can be presented at the shows it’s so disappointing for a child to win a trophy and go home without it, so anyone who still has one that should have been returned last season can they please return it as soon as possible. If it continues to become increasingly difficult to get trophies returned then the club may decide to stop giving trophies out as they cost on average £40 each to replace which would be a shame.
The treasurer gave her report and the club once again made a loss mainly due to the increased cost of running the shows and entries down on previous years, the club still has reserves enough to cover the loss and will keep membership the same as last year but will put entries prices on the day up but retain postal entries at the same as last year. Hopefully the recession will improve and so will entries next year.
The committee were re-elected as last year with new member Mr John Collins elected on to it.
The final part of the AGM is the awards of the senior and junior points championship and the Presentation of the chairman’s trophy, The chairman’s trophy is presented to someone who is not a committee member but has given their time to help the club, this year it was given to Mr John Collins who has helped in many aspect at all the clubs events last season and grateful thanks were given to him.
The junior point’s winner was Zara Brooks and the senior Was Emma Chinnery it was pleasing that both were present to receive their trophies and rosettes. Rosettes were given to sixth place and several of the junior members were presented with theirs on the night.
Gifts were also presented to those other non-committee members who had given their time to help the club last season they were Mandy & Bryan Poulson, Gemma Bedford, Chris & Robert Salmon, Linda Goodban, Melanie Challis Neil and Amber, Felicity and Martin Gore, Anne Walker, Debbie and finally the McLernon Family
No other business was brought up so the evening closed with a look forward to the new season.
